Leather Look on Card Stock 5/22/17

Happy M.O.M.

Did you ever what the look and feel of leather for your scrapbooking ?? I stumbled across this easy way to change your plain card stock into a beautiful leather look-a-like, complete with the feel of it too !!!!

Start with plain card stock. I used an Ivory white. Lightly spray it with water. Don't saturate because your paper will fall apart and not hold the creases.

Squish the paper together to form a ball. Gently open up the paper and squish it up again. I did this 3 times.
Till I got to the point where I was happy with the creases.

Use your heat gun  or craft dryer and dry the paper. Now apply your Distress Ink to the entire sheet. I started with Vintage Photo.

The I added some Spiced Marmalade and the went over it again with the Vintage Photo

Once you have the look you want, go over it with Mod Podge. This gives the paper the feel of leather as well as seals the Distress Ink.

I made this photo extra large so you can see the slight gloss on it especially in the upper right hand corner.

Now you have paper that looks and feels like leather. So now what do you do with it. Believe me there are a lot of things to do with this. Here is what I did with it.

I glued it to dark teal card stock.

I tore off the edges then used my distressing tool by Prima to distress it even more.

Next I cut (2) strips of the same Ivory White card stock, 1/4" shorter than the height of my teal card stock and 1/4"  shorter than the overall width. I Distressed both side of the papers, scored them in the center and added (2) holes in the center of them. I also added the center holes on the teal card stock. Yes, I am turning it into a book.

Next I used one of my darning needles and threaded some brown twine and ran that through all the holes starting from  the outside of the book cover, to the inside, then back to the outside.

I tied the twine  in a knot and created the book or booklet that can be used for journalling or photos. I also distressed the inside and outside of the teal card stock.

I finally added a piece of chip board from Graphic 45's Enchanted Forest. I am currently working on a mini album using that paper line. This is going to be perfect in that mini album.

It looks old enough to be from that era and even feels like well worn leather.  Once I get the album done I will be sending it off to my shop Scraps For Sanity at

Happy Scrapping !!!
