Embossing Ribbon 9/4/17

Happy M.O.M. Day

While I was at  Creativation (CHA) in Phoenix Az. this year I saw a new product (well new to me) called Terial Magic. It is a liquid fabric stiffener. I watched their demonstration and thought what a great way to incorporate fabrics into my scrapbooking. I see so many beautiful fabrics that would be awesome in my albums.  So I ordered it from Amazon and it has been sitting here for months. Well I decided to get it out and give it a try. This is what I did and discovered.

I cut out 2 strips of ribbon and put them in a bag with some of the Terial Magic spray and made sure they were good and soaked. Then hung them up to dry.

I ironed the ribbon to be sure there were no wrinkles and put a strip in an embossing folder and ran it through my Cut N Boss machine.

And here are the results.

But I thought the impression wasn't that good, so I pulled out my old fashioned spray starch, sprayed another piece of ribbon, ironed it and ran it through the Cut N Boss machine using the same embossing folder.

 Terial Magic

Spray Starch

I actually think the one with the spray starch came out with a better impression.  Both of them are flexible and remained silky feeling and both of them have retained the original impression after 1 week. I'm going to keep playing with the Terial Magic and see how it does on the fabric. I'll let you know what happens.

Distressed Tissue Paper Tags. 9/11/17

Happy M.O.M Day.

For those who are not familiar with this term, M.O.M. it is for Modus Operandi (a particular way or method of doing something) Monday.  On Monday's I bring you a new or old techniques that perhaps you don't know or did years ago and may have forgotten. Things that I see on the internet, Pinterest, my local scrapbooking store (Scrapbook Cafe in La Puente) or just my own techniques.

Today we are bring back the fun in Mod Podge and Tissue Paper.  And we will throw in a little distressing inks and shimmer sprays.

Tattered Angeles Black Magic, Prima Empress Gold, Prima Pot Marigold

Lets start with gathering up our supplies. For the main part of the tag you will need

A tag
Mod Podge (any type, I used Gloss Lustre)
Tissue Paper (I used white that had sparkles in it)
Paper Towels

Apply a good layer of Mod Podge all over the tag.

While the Mod Podge is still wet start apply the tissue paper. Scrunch its up, bunch it up, get lots of layers going.

Now go over all of it with Mod Podge, again don't be stingy with the glue. Put on a good layer of it otherwise your paper will not hold onto the tag.

Now let it dry. You can use your heat / craft gun but hold it far away from it or the tissue paper may burn. It doesn't take long to air dry. My sample took a couple of hours but I'm sure it was dry in an hour, I got busy with another project.

Once dry, trim the excess tissue paper off the edges and start apply distressing ink. I used my blending pads and just tapped the pads all over. You can see as I changed colors. Black Soot, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, and Peeled Paint.

Next is set the blending pad off to the side and picked up the ink pad and started dabbing it on the tag.

Now I pulled out the shimmer sprays.

2. Prima Empress Gold

3. Prima Pot Marigold

I just love the way it turned out. In fact I think I am going to make it part of my next album. Which is going to be another Graphic 45 Master Detective Collection.

Happy Scrapping !!

Hello everyone !!!!

I am so excited to show you a few pages from a custom album I made for a wonderful lady in The Netherlands.  After purchasing 3 of my albums on she contacted me and asked if I could make a custom album using Graphic 45's Halloween in Wonderland paper.   Of course I can, I have some of that paper.  The kicker was she wanted it scary !!!  I know the paper collection  had some scary aspects to it  but OMG how to I incorporate scary into whimsical without over doing it ??     Well I did it!!!!

Here are just a few of the pages.  Enjoy !!
